Tether has unveiled XAUt0, an omnichain version of its gold stablecoin XAUt built on the LayerZero standard. The new asset has been launched on the TON blockchain and is already available to Telegram wallet users. Each XAUt0 is backed by one ounce of physical gold stored in Switzerland.
According to Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, the project aims to simplify gold ownership in digital form while maintaining the benefits of DeFi. The XAUt0 stablecoin opens up opportunities for arbitrage, lending, staking, and use in decentralized applications.
