In 2024, Tether purchased US Treasury bonds worth $33.1 billion, ranking seventh in the world by this indicator. The company’s CEO Paolo Ardoino noted that the actual volume of assets may be higher, since a significant part of the investments goes through hedge fund jurisdictions.
According to Tether, its reserves hold $143.7 billion, of which $118.33 billion are liquid assets. In particular, 79.83% are T-bills, which is equivalent to $94.4 billion.
Despite Ardoino’s statements, official data from the US Treasury does not inсlude the company in the top 20 largest bond holders.
