Mastercard, in cooperation with major US banks, has launched a pilot project to test an interbank tokenized settlement systеm. The new technology, based on distributed ledger technology (DLT), will enable settlements using tokenized assets.
Participants in the pilot inсlude US Bancorp, Wells Fargo, Swift, Citigroup, VISA and others.
Testing of the RSN PoC systеm will take place in a test environment and simulate transactions with multiple tokenized assets denominated in US dollars. The systеm is expected to streamline interbank settlement and simplify the handling of tokenized assets for internal users of credit institutions.
