Law enforcement officials in India, with the support of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, were able to track down and seize $10.5 million in digital assets.
These funds were stolen by fraudsters who organized a criminal scheme called E-Nugget. Victims of E-Nugget, after investing money, lost access to the app and lost their funds.
To track the stolen assets, Enforcement Division (ED) officials turned to Binance for help.
The exchange’s specialists helped identify the cryptocurrency wallets of the fraudsters, who were linked to three exchanges. In total, the attackers used 70 different accounts to store the stolen funds.
Once the crypto wallets were discovered, law enforcement officials requested that they be blocked and the funds transferred to a government address.
