Jack Dorsey presented bitchat — an offline messenger that works via Bluetooth mesh networks. The application does not require the Internet, servers or registration: users communicate directly, and messages are encrypted and transmitted from device to device within a radius of up to 30 meters.
Bitchat provides complete privacy — messages are stored only in the device’s memory. Group chats, end-to-end encryption and a temporary storage function (store-and-forward) for offline users are supported. The messenger is especially useful in the conditions of protests, disasters and lack of communication.
